Blogging to Promote Your Geriatric Care Management Business

During my time working as a writer in geriatric care, I learned two fundamental things pertaining to my role:

1.     Most people are not sure what a geriatric care management firm does, exactly, and,

2.     Most geriatric care managers are not sure how having a quality blog can benefit their business.

(I also learned that I am incapable of thinking of a nursing home without hearing Tony Soprano screaming in my head, “it’s a retirement community!” but that is beside the point).

The two things I learned are very much intertwined, as you may have already guessed. The average person simply isn’t all that familiar with the resources, facilities, and services available for aging in place and will not differentiate between a geriatric care manager and a hospice nurse. While there has been a definitive rise in the number of available geriatric care management companies over the years, much of the market remains untapped as people remain unaware of all the benefits they bring and the intricacies of their affordability.

Likewise, while some geriatric care firms do an excellent job of marketing themselves to the right demographic, many seem to be designed with a deficiency in that arena. Because they cater to a more senior age group, they tend to overlook the importance of an online presence and its role in reaching older millennials, many of whom are beginning to care for older parents and relatives and should be a main group to target.

With that said, how can you use a blog writer to expand your reach and even engage your current clients to increase retention and referral rates?

1.     Educate

With the right marketing strategy and search engine optimization, your blog can serve as excellent content to use for reaching people in your community who may not know what you can help them with. It’s an opportunity to detail your services and explain how they may be useful.

2.     Show your expertise

Your blog can be a way to create initial rapport with potential clients by shining light on issues you may be able to assist with. An exceptional blog page will provide case studies your audience may relate to, discuss common problems with elderly care in the community, and showcase how your advice, advocacy, and network can be indispensable in providing solutions.

3.     Build trust through consistency.

For smaller geriatric care operations wanting to start with a single freelance writer, as well as bigger firms with a larger marketing team, it’s important to hire a niche expert who will not only reliably post content on set dates, but also provide quality advice that grabs your audience’s attention and shows your proficiency and dependability. Sending out an e-mail newsletter on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis keeps your company top of mind, increases client engagement, and makes your company a go-to for returning customers as well as those considering trying out your services.
